These knives are nice. They look and feel pretty darn nice. They seem to be of a little higher quality. I almost don’t want to use them and ruin them. I don’t know if these are true Damascus. They easily pass the paper slicing test. Metal looks nice. It is nicely polished. I don’t see any machine marks or anything like that. Handles are quite nice also. Don’t see any bad spots in the handles. Handles are quite long. Much longer than I would expect. They come in a nice box that helps to show that these are of a higher end. The corners on the handles are oddly sharp. I would like to see some kind of bevels on these corners. That is the only fault I can find with these. These knives are 5 stars all day long.

I could find little information of 99CR18 material, so I wonder if it is a variant of 9CR18MOV. I any event, the knives look beautiful. The pattern is quite ornate. They did a good job blending the wood and the blue resin on the handle. I did have to look up what pakkawood was. I now understand it is actual wood (or layers of wood) that is polished and infused with resin to make it water resistant . Now I see why I thought the wood looked a bit artificial as the resin feel threw me off. However, under some magnification, you do see natural woods flaws that would be hard to mimic.Initially, I was not a huge fan of the hexagonal style grip, but I’ve somewhat come to accept it. I can see how it would help resist the knife turning in one’s hand, but I also pinch the blade, so that was not a huge worry. The real action end are the blades and they are quite nice. I recently stumbled on Nakiri knives and this is my new “go to” knife for veggies. The chef’s knife I’ve used for slicing grilled pork and the sharp blade slices with ease. Eventually they’ll need to be sharpened but after a month of moderate use, they’ve held their edge.I’m not sure what style tang these knives use. It’d be nice if that detail was in the description.Last thing: the back of the chef knife at midpoint is about 1.83mm and around 2mm by the handle. The Nakiri is about 2mm the entire back.These are a very nice pair of knives overall. I’m quite pleased.
